Preview: Commerce Tigers vs. Rabun County Wildcats
Commerce is 0-4 against Rabun County since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Commerce Tigers will be playing at home against the Rabun County Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Commerce focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Commerce was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-39 to Athens Christian. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Commerce in their matchups with Athens Christian: they've now lost four in a row.
Commerce's loss came about despite a quality game from Malay L miitchell, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals. L miitchell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Raven Parks, who scored nine points along with two steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Rabun County put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 74-52 margin over Tallulah Falls. Given Rabun County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Tallulah Falls is ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Commerce's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Rabun County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
