There's no place like home for Doherty, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They won by a set and slipped past the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won five in a row.

Doherty had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 24-26, 25-23, 25-21, 15-13.

Ryan Kaiser paced Doherty's offense, picking up 13 kills. Kaiser got some help from Elijah Morrison and his 17 assists. Finally, Titus Butler kept Doherty's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Mesa Ridge's loss on Tuesday came despite strong showings from Jayden Gomez and Tristan Biber. Gomez had 13 digs, while Biber had 18 digs and one assist.

Doherty's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 4-10. As for Mesa Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Doherty wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Fountain-Fort Carson on the 3rd. Mesa Ridge has also already played their next contest (against Coronado), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
