With a playoff win on the line, Oasis Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the West Wendover Wolverines. This was a revenge game for the Bighorns: when they faced off against the Wolverines two weeks ago, they had to take a 15-0 loss.

Matthew Bird made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Bird was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Bird wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryder McNabb, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits McNabb has posted since back in May of 2024.

Oasis Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 15-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Oasis Academy's record is now 19-6. As for West Wendover, they moved to 20-8 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Oasis Academy has already played their next matchup, a 10-7 loss against North Tahoe on the 9th. As for West Wendover, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-1 defeat against Yerington on the 9th.
