Oxford barely beat Sun Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Vanguards on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Hornets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Oxford's got stronger as the match went on, holding Sun Valley to fewer and fewer points set over set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-14, 25-12.

Kaley Higgins paced Oxford's offense, picking up 14 kills. Higgins got some help from Maycie Smith and her 30 assists. Smith was also solid from the service line: she led the team with eight aces.

Oxford has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season. As for Sun Valley, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Oxford has already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Great Valley on the 15th. As for Sun Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Penncrest on the 13th.
