Preview: Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders vs. Bedford Bisons
The Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Bedford Bisons at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Bishop Guilfoyle didn't have too much trouble with Philipsburg-Osceola at home as they won 22-7.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bishop Guilfoyle to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaden Wyandt, who rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Wyandt hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hamilton Gates, who gained 127 total yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Bedford never let their opponents score on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 17-0 win over Greater Johnstown. The win was just what Bedford needed coming off of a 42-7 loss in their prior game.
Bedford can attribute much of their success to Joey Huxta, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Bedford's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 4.5 times. Leading the way was Jacob Wilson and his three sacks.
Bishop Guilfoyle now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Bedford, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6.
Bishop Guilfoyle came up short against Bedford when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 18-7. Thankfully for Bishop Guilfoyle, Ethan Weber (who rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
