Baseball Game Preview: Beloit Memorial Knights vs. Elkhorn Elks

The Beloit Memorial Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Elkhorn Elks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Beloit Memorial has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Janesville Parker hit Beloit Memorial with a ten-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights came up short against the Vikings, falling 12-1. The Knights have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Beloit Memorial saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tayvon Cates, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Elkhorn came up short against Beloit Memorial on Monday and fell 7-4.

Elkhorn also got a good showing from Keegan Bryant, who struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bryant has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

Beloit Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Elkhorn, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Beloit Memorial was able to grind out a solid victory over Elkhorn in their previous meeting on Monday, winning 7-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
