Recap: AIMS College Prep Golden Eagles vs. Leadership Public Schools Richmond Pumas
The AIMS College Prep Golden Eagles waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 54-47 win over Leadership Public Schools Richmond. That result was just more of the same for these two, as AIMS College Prep also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Leading AIMS College Prep to victory were Caleb Ketema and Nahom Solomon. Ketema scored 16 points along with two steals, while Solomon scored 15 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Ketema scored 15 or more points. Isaac Abram was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Several Pumas players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Damien Carter, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Grisby, who scored 15 points.
AIMS College Prep's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36.42 points. As for Leadership Public Schools Richmond, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. AIMS College Prep will face off against Skyline at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Skyline is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Leadership Public Schools Richmond won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Envision Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Ghaith Omar and Grisby.
