Highland Springs is 8-2 against Hermitage since August of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Highland Springs is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Friendship Collegiate Academy, who was ranked third in their home state at the time (Highland Springs was ranked sixth). The Springers came out on top against the Knights by a score of 29-18 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Springers, who have now won four contests in a row.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Hermitage challenged Glen Allen on Friday. The Panthers took down the Jaguars 38-20. Hermitage's victory was all the more impressive since the Jaguars were averaging only 14.5 points allowed on the season.

Hermitage's win came from a few key players Highland Springs will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Avery Curtis, who rushed for 122 yards and one TD, and also picked up 81 receiving yards and one score. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 54 yards. Another player making a difference was Ben Yeanay, who threw for 171 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes.

Hermitage's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Highland Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Everything went Highland Springs' way against Hermitage when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Highland Springs made off with a 27-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Springers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
