Volleyball Recap: Willow Glen Takes a Loss

If Willow Glen was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Yerba Buena on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rams took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneer Mustangs on Thursday. The Rams have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

While Willow Glen ultimately came up short, they really made Pioneer work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 26-21, 12-25, 25-19, 25-23.

Ella Rhyasen was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 32 assists and four digs.

Willow Glen's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5. As for Pioneer, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season.

Willow Glen has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against King's Academy on the 19th. As for Pioneer, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Yerba Buena on the 23rd.
