Basketball Recap: Meade Buffaloes vs. Hodgeman County Longhorns
After flying high against Kiowa County last Saturday, Meade came back down to earth. The Meade Buffaloes took a 60-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hodgeman County Longhorns. The Buffaloes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Longhorns earlier this season, when they won 39-38.
Hodgeman County found their leader in sophomore Ian Reece, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. Those 15 points gave Reece a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hazen Rydquist, who posted 14 points along with seven assists and five boards.
Meade's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Hodgeman County, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meade will face off against Sublette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sublette's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for Hodgeman County, they will challenge Bucklin at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hodgeman County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season.
