Basketball Recap: Kemper Academy Takes a Loss

Kemper Academy was the 48-27 winner over Sylva Bay Academy when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Kemper Academy Rams took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sylva Bay Academy Saints. While the Rams didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Saints 13-5 in the first quarter.

Sylva Bay Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Livy Shumock out in front who posted eight points and 17 boards. The dominant performance gave Shumock a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sydney Poole, who put up 13 points along with six assists and six boards.

Kemper Academy's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Sylva Bay Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-9.

Kemper Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they will be playing at home against Newton County Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
