Basketball Game Preview: Harding University Rams vs. North Mecklenburg Vikings

Harding University hasn't had much luck against North Mecklenburg recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Harding University Rams will face off against the North Mecklenburg Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Harding University is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Wednesday. The game between them and West Charlotte didn't end well, with Harding University falling 75-57.

Meanwhile, North Mecklenburg entered their tilt with Chambers on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 76-73 victory over the Cougars. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while the Cougars are ranked 68th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Mecklenburg pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.2 points per game. As for Harding University, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Harding University was taken down by North Mecklenburg 113-55 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Harding University avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
