Baseball Game Preview: Perrin-Whitt Pirates vs. Bryson Cowboys

The Perrin-Whitt Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Bryson Cowboys at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Perrin-Whitt is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Saint Jo on Thursday as they made off with a 16-6 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Cole Keeney made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Keeney was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Perrin-Whitt let Noah Morris and Fabian Lopez run wild. Morris went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Lopez went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Morris a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Case Lambert, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Perrin-Whitt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Bryson came tearing into Tuesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 10-4 win. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Bryson pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Perrin-Whitt, their record now sits at 5-6.
