Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Edinburg North

Edinburg North had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Hanna Golden Eagles by a score of 7-3. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Golden Eagles, too.

Destany Bermudez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sophia Cruz, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kyla Rodriguez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Edinburg North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hanna only hit four hits.

Edinburg North's victory bumped their record up to 5-1-1. As for Hanna, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-6-1 record this season.

Looking ahead, Edinburg North will venture away from home to challenge United at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hanna, they will square off against Port Isabel at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
