Basketball Recap: Wilburton's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Wilburton hadn't done well against Talihina recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wilburton Diggers walked away with a 53-46 win over the Talihina Golden Tigers. This was payback for the Diggers, who suffered a 51-41 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Despite the loss, Talihina saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cy Ammons went 6 for 11 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Griffith, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Wilburton's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. As for Talihina, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Wilburton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Stigler at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Talihina, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Hartshorne at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
