Softball Recap: Meridian Wins High-Profile Match Against Mountain View

Meridian faced Mountain View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Warriors walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Mavericks. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Alison Pitman was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexia Flygare, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meridian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Meridian will square off against rival Boise at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mountain View is set to challenge their familiar foe Kuna at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
