Basketball Recap: Golden Valley Finds Home Court Redemption Against Ceres

There's no place like home for Golden Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They came out on top against the Ceres Bulldogs by a score of 62-52 on Thursday. The Cougars have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Ceres lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Manuel Ortega, who posted 11 points along with eight boards and four steals. Ortega is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Estrada, who earned 13 points and five rebounds.

Golden Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Ceres, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.

Golden Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 55-50 win against Escalon on the 3rd. As for Ceres, they and Livingston will meet in a canine-themed contest at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
