Basketball Recap: Bartow Takes Down Lakeland in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Bartow rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 61-52 win over the Lakeland Dreadnaughts. Given the Yellow Jackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Dreadnaughts are ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bartow to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dylan Brinson, who went 6 of 8 to rack up 16 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Brinson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jah'Mir Wallace, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Bartow has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 13-11.

Looking ahead, Bartow will face off against East River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lakeland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
