Basketball Game Preview: Cibola Cougars vs. Farmington Scorpions

The Cibola Cougars and the Farmington Scorpions will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Cibola took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 80-65 win over Piedra Vista. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Panthers are ranked 77th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Farmington earned a 68-61 victory over Rio Rancho on Tuesday. The Scorpions haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Cibola's victory bumped their record up to 18-9. As for Farmington, their win bumped their record up to an identical 18-9.
