Basketball Recap: Livingston Takes a Loss

Livingston lost against Hargrave back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Livingston Lions were outmatched by the Hargrave Falcons and fell 81-52. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 458th, while the Falcons are ranked 117th).

Livingston's loss came despite strong showings from Cory Dirden and Ziekus Garner. Dirden posted 17 points and eight rebounds, while Garner dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. Garner has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 16 times he's played. Roberto Ramirez was another key player, putting up nine points.

Livingston's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-12. As for Hargrave, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-2.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Hardin-Jefferson the next time they take the court. Hargrave will host Hardin-Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Livingston will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st.
