Basketball Recap: Sioux City West Takes a Loss

Sioux City West was the 71-54 winner over South Sioux City when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Sioux City West Wolverines fell just short of the South Sioux City Cardinals by a score of 75-72 on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), the Wolverines still had to take the loss.

South Sioux City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Paul Turner, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave Turner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmed Mohamed, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 boards.

Sioux City West is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3. As for South Sioux City, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-1.

Sioux City West wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 101-71 loss against Sioux City East on the 13th. As for South Sioux City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 74-58 victory against Winnebago on the 14th.
