Basketball Recap: T Nutter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jefferson over Fort Lupton

Jefferson was the 46-31 winner over Fort Lupton when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Jefferson Saints took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Lupton Bluedevils on Thursday.

Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was T Nutter, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 22 rebounds. Nutter has been hot, having posted 14 or more boards the last six times she's played. Gigi Trujillo was another key player, going 5-for-12 en route to 17 points and three steals.

Leading Fort Lupton to victory were Marely Gomez and Maddie Beverly. Gomez dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten steals, while Beverly went 9-for-22 to rack up 22 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Those eight boards gave Beverly a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Tapia, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Jefferson's record now sits at 12-7. As for Fort Lupton, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson will square off against St. Mary's Academy at 6:00 p.m. on February 20th. As for Fort Lupton, they will challenge Bennett at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
