Basketball Game Preview: McGregor Mercuries vs. Floodwood Polar Bears

McGregor hasn't had much luck against Floodwood recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The McGregor Mercuries will be home for the holidays to greet the Floodwood Polar Bears at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, McGregor was able to grind out a solid win over Mille Lacs co-op [Isle/Onamia], taking the game 57-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mercuries.

Meanwhile, Floodwood waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Mariners 57-27. The Polar Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 30 points or more this season.

Floodwood's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for McGregor, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

McGregor was taken down by Floodwood 81-44 in their previous meeting back in February. Can McGregor avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
