Basketball Recap: Carmani Sharkey and Nia Crawford Secure Win for Orr

Orr extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Chicago Marshall. They walked away with a 45-33 victory over the Chicago Marshall Commandos. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Commandos: they've now won four in a row.

Leading Orr to victory were Nia Crawford and Carmani Sharkey. Crawford dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Sharkey posted 17 points in addition to five boards and five steals. The matchup was Sharkey's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Ja'Una Williams was another key player, putting up two points along with seven boards and seven steals.

Orr smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Chicago Marshall's loss came despite strong showings from Charmarre Scott and Lashawnda Gilbert. Scott dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Gilbert earned three points. Scott is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 14 games she's played.

Orr's victory bumped their record up to 22-5. As for Chicago Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 25-8.

Looking ahead, Orr will square off against Willows Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Willows Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Orr surely won't give up without a fight. Chicago Marshall does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
