Baseball Recap: Enterprise Takes a Loss

Enterprise dropped down to 10-6-1 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Central Valley Falcons, falling 8-1. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2020.

Enterprise saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Slader Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

As for Central Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games.

On Central Valley's side, Conly Merritt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. Merritt has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drason Recio, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Central Valley is 7-1-1 when Recio posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Andrew Reeves was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Coincidentally, Enterprise and Central Valley will both be playing Etna the next time they take the field. The Falcons will head out to face the Lions at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Hornets will host them at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
