Eric Erdmann made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Jesuit got a big performance out of Cade Colombara, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that Colombara snagged this season. Austin Norquist was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Jesuit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.4.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Christian Brothers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Ponderosa 5-4.
Like Jesuit, Christian Brothers also got a great game from a two-way player: Johnathan Otto. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Otto has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Otto wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mikey Horan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Christian Brothers' win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Jesuit, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
