Basketball Game Preview: Marshfield Bluejays vs. Branson Pirates

The Marshfield Bluejays are taking a road trip to square off against the Branson Pirates at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Marshfield is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 71-42, which was the final score in Marshfield's tilt against Bolivar on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while the Liberators are ranked 64th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Branson). They came out on top against Carl Junction by a score of 87-77 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Branson's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for Marshfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.

Marshfield couldn't quite finish off Branson in their previous matchup back in February of 2016 and fell 54-52. Can Marshfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
