Football Recap: Zephaniah Diamond's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lely over Booker + How To Watch

If Lely was riding high fresh off their 60-36 takedown of Gulf Coast two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans took a hard 28-14 fall against the Booker Tornadoes on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Tornadoes are ranked 28th).

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zephaniah Diamond, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Nino Joseph handled things on the ground, rushing for 131 yards.

Joel Morris continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Booker, throwing for 346 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 15.0 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 31 yards and one score. What's more, Morris racked up 148.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Booker's leading receiver Tyren Wortham was Morris' top target yet again, picking up 148 receiving yards and one TD.

Lely's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Booker, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Lely didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 42-18 victory against Barron Collier on the 26th. As for Booker, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 50-0 win against Bayshore on the 26th.
