Soccer Game Preview: McLean vs. Mount Vernon

The McLean Highlanders are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against the Mount Vernon Majors at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

McLean is leaving town to face Mount Vernon after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. McLean fell just short of Westfield by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon didn't have quite enough to beat West Potomac on Thursday and fell 2-1. Mount Vernon have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

McLean took their victory against Mount Vernon in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for McLean since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
