Baseball Recap: Galax Comes Up Short

Galax had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-11 to make it seven. They lost 14-0 to the Giles Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Maroon Tide have suffered against the Spartans since April 12, 2022.

As for Giles, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8-1. They have beaten Galax the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Galax has come to flipping the script.

For Giles' part, Brady Thwaites was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Thwaites was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Josiah Schlueter and Jacob Mills did most of the damage at the plate: Schlueter went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Mills went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Giles is undefeated when Schlueter posts three or more hits, but 1-8-1 otherwise. Braxton Clark was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
