Softball Recap: Stagg Chargers vs. Oak Lawn Spartans        
        
		
            
 Stagg was the  14-4 winner over Oak Lawn when they last played one another  back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Stagg Chargers fell just short of the Oak Lawn Spartans by a score of  8-7 on Wednesday. Stagg has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Ella Byrne made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 4-for-4 with two  runs, a  triple,  and  an  RBI.  Sophia Padilla was another key contributor,  going 1-for-3 with a  triple and  an  RBI.
 Even though they lost, Stagg  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Lawn struck out six times.
 On Oak Lawn's side,  Kasey Jackson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned  (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits. Jackson has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in nine consecutive pitching appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Danielle Dempsey was  incredible,  going 3-for-4 with a  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs. The team also got some help courtesy of  Teagan Kryzstof, who  went 2-for-4 with a  triple, a  run,  and  an  RBI.
 Stagg's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Oak Lawn, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
 Stagg will head out on the road to  take on  Homewood-Flossmoor at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Homewood-Flossmoor is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.4  runs per game  this season.
