Softball Game Preview: Hempstead Bobcats vs. Brazos Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Hempstead Bobcats take on Brazos Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hempstead has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hempstead is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Boling by a score of 16-11 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bobcats considering their one-run performance the match before.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Brazos was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They lost 7-1 to Van Vleck. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Leopards recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Brazos saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Macha, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Macha has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Brazos' defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-14-1. As for Hempstead, they moved to 3-5 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Everything went Hempstead's way against Brazos when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Hempstead made off with a 14-2 win. Will Hempstead repeat their success, or does Brazos has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
