Basketball Recap: Middletown Starts Season with Victory at Home

Middletown took care of business in their home opener on Thursday (and then some). They blew past the Times Squared Academy Eagles 41-15. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Islanders as it put an end to their 19-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Lamaya Gonsalves went supernova for Middletown, putting up 18 points. Those 18 points gave Gonsalves a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby DeSantis, who posted six points.

Middletown will have a chance to go back-to-back against Times Squared Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
