The Lyon County Lyons will face off against the Trigg County Wildcats at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
Lyon County is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since May 11, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Livingston Central by a score of 4-2. The Lyons have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Ava Prow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Olivia Moore made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. Lilly Perry also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trigg County). They walked away with a 14-10 win over Union County on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won eight matches in a row.
Veyda Grinols was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makenna Hendricks, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.
Trigg County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.
Trigg County's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lyon County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
