Baseball Recap: Kickapoo Panthers vs. De Soto Pirates
Kickapoo extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-7. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the De Soto Pirates. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly five runs.
Rhonan Culver made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
As for De Soto, their win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.
On De Soto's side, Griffin Hanson was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Trussoni, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Kickapoo will face off against rival North Crawford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, De Soto is set to challenge their familiar foe Ithaca at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pirates 2.5, the Bulldogs 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
