Baseball Recap: Gulf Shores Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the Gulf Shores Dolphins didn't have quite enough to beat the Grissom Tigers and fell 9-8.

Jacob O'Bryan and Price Stephens did some serious damage despite the final result: O'Bryan scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Stephens scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Gulf Shores is 4-1 when O'Bryan posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

Even though they lost, Gulf Shores was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in three consecutive games.

Gulf Shores' defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Grissom, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Coming up, Gulf Shores will be playing at home against Hillcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hillcrest will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Gulf Shores surely won't give up without a fight. As for Grissom, they will take on Lincoln County at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Grissom 3.3, Lincoln County 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
