Baseball Game Preview: Rio Linda Knights vs. Wheatland Pirates

The Rio Linda Knights will face off against the Wheatland Pirates at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Rio Linda blew Inderkum out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Inderkum got their revenge. Rio Linda fell just short of Inderkum by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Knights have suffered against the Tigers since March 13, 2017.

DJ Lloyd made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Carlos Martinez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Wheatland posted their biggest victory since April 23, 2024 on Friday. Everything went their way against East Nicolaus as Wheatland made off with a 10-2 win.

Rio Linda's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Wheatland, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.
