Mooresville had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 15-11 to make it five. They fell 6-2 to the Whiteland Warriors. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Pioneers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Kiernan Herald was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Tyler Denny was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Mooresville is 9-3 when Denny posts two or more runs, but 6-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brody McGaha, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
As for Whiteland, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games.
On Whiteland's side, Peyton Wingfield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. Wingfield has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Maalik Perkins was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 14 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Dickens, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Coming up, Mooresville will square off against Lebanon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Pioneers are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Whiteland has already played their next contest (against Indian Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
