It was a good run, but Akron unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Merino by a score of 5-4. Akron was not able to make up for their loss to Merino from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Jakzon Livesay made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Caleb Poss was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Akron's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Merino, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Akron beat Merino by a score of 11-6 later that day.
