Softball Recap: Northview Titans vs. Lithonia Bulldogs
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northview). They were the clear victor by a 24-5 margin over the Lithonia Bulldogs on Tuesday. Considering the Titans have won five matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jordyn Burdick made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in September of 2023. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, a triple, and an RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Niki Karmifard, who went 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career- in hits. Stella Weaver was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Northview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved they're batting average total in four consecutive matchups.
Northview's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Lithonia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Northview will play host again on Thursday to welcome Whitefield Academy, where first pitch is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Northview will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Lithonia, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Marist at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lithonia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13 runs per game this season.
