Southwestern recap September 10, 2013
Preston Miller and Aaron Young provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Mayfair. The connection was good for 65 yards, the longest such play in Southwestern this season.
Temecula Valley scaled the state rankings by moving to 294 from 398 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Golden Bears climbed the ranks as a result of topping Temescal Canyon 32-0.
DJ Hooks was the best wideout in the league this week as Temecula Valley bested the Titans. Hooks tallied 8 receptions for 121 yards. Dominique Maiden helped Temecula Valley's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 50 yards.
Peyton Uhl put up the best numbers through the air as Murrieta Mesa defeated Hemet. He finished with a total of 26 completions for 231 yards and 2 touchdowns. Uhl's favorite target this week was Davian Neitz, who caught 7 passes for 73 yards.
Kyle Plantier was a passing and rushing force as Paul Mcgowen's team bested Temescal Canyon. He completed 19 passes for 261 yards and also ran for 20 yards.
He was 26-37 with 1 interceptions.
Michael Robles was the most successful running back in Southwestern this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 189 yards as Murrieta Valley beat the Titans. Quincy Wimbish also contributed to the rushing game with 118 yards on the ground.
The Rams' Uhl and Neitz have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Uhl has thrown for 506 yards this season, while Neitz has 14 catches for 214 yards. Robles from the Nighthawks leads the league in rushing with 315 yards.
Vista Murrieta was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in the league. Earlier in the week, the Broncos triumphed over Downey 66-28.
