Soccer Game Preview: Estero vs. Cypress Lake

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Estero challenge the Cypress Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday... Estero's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Estero's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 1-0 victory from a begrudging Estero squad. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Seahawks are ranked 419th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cypress Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of South Fort Myers. The game was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Panthers couldn't quite close it out.

Estero's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Cypress Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9-1.

Estero beat Cypress Lake by a goal when the teams last played back in November of 2023, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Estero since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
