Softball Recap: Naples' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Naples came into Saturday's contest having lost 12 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Cypress Lake Panthers by a score of 7-3 on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Golden Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Joslyn Baker was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Leiti was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Mary Mcmullin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Naples' win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Cypress Lake, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

Looking ahead, Naples will be taking part in a tournament against Evangelical Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Golden Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sentinels have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Cypress Lake, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gateway at 6:30 p.m. on the 22nd.
