Softball Recap: Kennedy Cougars vs. Chavez Eagles

Kennedy came out on top against Chavez on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run second inning. The Cougars took their matchup against the Eagles 9-5. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Aubrie Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Melaney Velasco was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Brooklyn Williams was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Kennedy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chavez only posted a batting average of .310.
