Volleyball Recap: Rhinelander Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Rhinelander can now relate to. They fell 3-1 to the Mauston Golden Eagles on Tuesday. If the Hodags were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Golden Eagles when the teams met back in October of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-18, 23-25, 25-7.

When it comes to explaining why Rhinelander lost, don't look at Tori Stella. Despite the final result, she had 13 digs and one assist.

Among those leading the charge was Ellie Pouillie, who had 15 assists and six digs. That's the most assists she has posted since back in September.

Rhinelander's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-33. As for Mauston, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-11 record this season.

Rhinelander does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mauston, they will head out to challenge Reedsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
