Soccer Game Preview: Front Range Christian vs. The Vanguard School

The Front Range Christian Falcons will take on The Vanguard School at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Front Range Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Falcons who were credited with the win. Their winning goal came courtesy of Samson Osberg.

Last Thursday, neither The Vanguard School nor James Irwin could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The outcome might've been different if Tucker Berry hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.

The Vanguard School was without their leading scorer, Deven Jain, in Thursday's match. With Jain sidelined, the Coursers had to make some big changes to the lineup. Three players got more time on the pitch than they're used to: Kiyo Phonexayphova (45), Jacob Figueroa (71), and Emmanuel Peralta (80). The trio had averaged 24.4, 37.6, and 56.6 minutes respectively before Thursday's matchup. Phonexayphova made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Front Range Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3-1 record this season. The Vanguard School's draw gives them a new season record of 10-2-3.
