Volleyball Recap: Lila Englehart and Lexi Varakin Secure Win for Southside Christian

Southside Christian's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Palmetto Mustangs. The Sabres haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Southside Christian was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 22-25, 21-25, 25-14, 15-3.

Leading Southside Christian to victory were Lexi Varakin and Lila Englehart. Varakin had eight digs and two aces, while Englehart had 35 digs and four assists. That's the most digs Englehart has posted since back in October of 2024.

They weren't the only good servers: Southside Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matchups.

Southside Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Palmetto, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-7.
