Basketball Recap: Hempstead Comes Up Short

After soaring to 73 points the game before, Hempstead was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They were outmatched by the La Grange Leopards and fell 71-28. The Bobcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-12.

Leading La Grange to victory were Conner Brooks and Mason Kleiber. Brooks almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine boards, while Kleiber went 5-for-10 en route to 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Those 15 points gave Kleiber a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Gross, who posted four points and nine rebounds.

Hempstead's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Hempstead has already played their next matchup, a 59-51 victory against Bay City on the 25th. As for La Grange, they will face off against Hallettsville at 7:00 p.m. on December 2.
