Basketball Game Preview: South Lenoir Blue Devils vs. East Duplin Panthers

South Lenoir hasn't had much luck against East Duplin recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The South Lenoir Blue Devils will head out to face off against the East Duplin Panthers at 6:30 p.m.

South Lenoir is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They took a blow against Southwest Onslow, falling 57-27. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 582nd, while the Stallions are ranked 238th).

South Lenoir's loss came about despite a quality game from Campbell Price, who posted seven points. The dominant performance gave Price a new career-high in points.

Meanwhile, East Duplin came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 59-14 win over the Hawks. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

East Duplin pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40.7 points. As for South Lenoir, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.

South Lenoir ended up a good deal behind East Duplin in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, losing 43-28. Can South Lenoir avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
