Basketball Recap: Aurora Central Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hinkley last Friday, Aurora Central came back down to earth. The Aurora Central Trojans lost 80-54 to the Denver North Vikings on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Trojans have suffered since February 3rd.

Despite the defeat, Aurora Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ual Yonas went 5 of 12 on his way to 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Yonas. The team also got some help courtesy of Deon Davis Jr, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Aurora Central dropped their record down to 2-2 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Denver North, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-3.

Aurora Central will take on Kent Denver at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kent Denver will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Aurora Central surely won't give up without a fight. As for Denver North, they will head out to square off against Pueblo Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
